Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Family Life Center), 1410 Golf Club Lane, Clarksville
The Montgomery County Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was formed in 1924.  Our charter is to promote interest in and the enjoyment of the history of Montgomery County, Tennessee, and adjacent areas; to ascertain, preserve and promote local history; to identify and preserve local historic sites, structures, artifacts and other materials and promote their preservation; to hold periodic meetings in keeping with the interest of the society.

Our Society holds monthly meetings and special events in support of local history in and around Montgomery County, Tennessee.  You can find a schedule of these events on our Events page, and on our Facebook page (see link below).  We publish a monthly newsletter, the Cornsheller, for our members, featuring history clips, upcoming meetings/events, and lengthy family histories. We recognize local historic preservation efforts with an annual Awards program.

Our Society does not maintain a research library of historic materials.  We refer researchers to the great Montgomery County Archives and the also-great Genealogy Room of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
